VCF Femenino were beaten 1-3 by Athletic Club in a midweek fixture at the Antonio Puchades. Marta Carro scored the home team's only goal of the match.
The game got off to an intense start, especially in the midfield. However, there was a lack of precision in attack from both sides.
VCF Femenino took the lead when Esther and Marta Carro combined in the 25th minute, the latter heading in off a corner.
Athletic Club increased their high press, looking for success from set pieces as well. It was from a dead ball that they equalised, as Corres made it 1-1 off a corner, 39 minutes in.
Athletic Club began the second half with a long shot from Peke in the 48th minute, which grazed the crossbar. Accuracy continued to be lacking amongst both teams.
In the 76th minute, Corres headed in to put Athletic Club in front, and that was added to in stoppage time when Azkona took the score to 1-3. Despite VCF Femenino's best attempts, they were unable to get the result at the Antonio Puchades.
